Fluid Resistance
This technology creates a barrier to fluids on the outside of the garment so that fluids bead up and roll off the fabric, keeping you dry and comfortable while the fabric maintains its natural breathability.
Moisture Wicking
In the heat of duty, keeping sweat away from your body is key. Moisture wicking technology captures and pulls fluids and perspiration away from the body and spreads it over the fabric surface area for quick evaporation so you will feel comfortable and dry.
Stain / Soil Resistance
Often using the Teflon finish fabric protector, this technology provides superior soil and stain resistance for fabrics to keep your uniform from looking dirty and unprofessional.
Anti-microbial technology
Applied to the fiber level to reduce bacteria that causes odor over time, this technology also reduces the frequency of washing needed for your apparel so that other features are not worn down as quickly.
UV Protection
Law enforcement officers spend a great portion of their time in the elements exposed to the effects of the sun. This technology offeres protection against harmful ultra violet radiation from repeated exposure to the sun.
Stitched military creases
Military creases are often required for law enforcement uniforms as they create a polished professional look to the officer. Stitched in military creases offers this look without the need for the officer to do this mundane task with a flat iron on a repeated basis.
Armpit Vents
Another technology to reduce perspiration and help the officer to be comfortable during a tough day of sometimes physical exertion, this technology might manifest itself in a variety of different applications depending on the manufacturer.
Ease of movement
The ability to have a full range of motion in the arms and from side to side is so important to an officer for quick movement with a weapon or with an unruly criminal. Fabrics are often more flexible synthetic fabrics like polyester or combinations of cotton with more flexible fabrics like polyester and rayon and nylon to increase the stretch factor. Other options for ease of movement include bi-swing shoulders or other shoulder loosening technologies.
Hidden Zipper Front
Another feature to make the officer’s job just a bit easier, instead of a full set of buttons running down the front of the shirt, a lot of uniformed officers prefer to have a false set of buttons to keep the appropriate look of a professional officer, but behind that front placket is a hidden ykk zipper to help putting the shirt on and off so much quicker.
Mic Cord Passthrough
With the increase of officers using their 2-way radios with shoulder microphones / speakers, this creates an issue with extra wires running up and across the officer’s body. So, a lot of uniform shirt manufacturer’s are including a stitched hole at the base of the shirt on the side to let the wires travel underneath the shirt to the top instead of being on the outside to cause problems.
Pen Pockets
Law enforcement officers often need to write things down at times during their operations and having enough locations for a pen and keeping them protected and safe are important to a modern law enforcement uniform shirt.
Extra long tails
The use of extra long tails in the uniform shirt helps the shirt stay tucked in increasing the professional look of a uniformed officer.
